BENIDORM SE ENGALANA CON SUS FIESTAS PATRONALES

Como cada Noviembre de cada año, Benidorm se viste de fiesta, pues llega el momento del año más esperado para los festers: Las Fiestas Patronales.

Estas tienen su origen desde 1740, cuando los vecinos de Benidorm vieron aproximarse a la costa un barco sin tripulantes. La llegada de este londro causó tanta expectación como miedo, pues se infundió pavor de pensar que la causa de la desaparición de sus tripulantes fue por la peste. Las autoridades decidieron quemar el barco para evitar epidemias. Una vez que las llamas se habían extinguido, los niños del pueblo comenzaron a rebuscar clavos, hierros y más restos, con la sorpresa de que se encontraron la imagen de una Virgen con el Niño Jesús en brazos que había llegado en la popa del barco. La Virgen estaba intacta, ni le habían rozado las llamas, hecho que parece un auténtico milagro, ya que el resto del barco había quedado completamente calcinado. Desde entonces, cada segundo fin de semana de Noviembre se celebra el hallazgo  de la Virgen del Sufragio.

Este Viernes día 10 comienzan 5 días de intensa actividad festiva, donde podremos disfrutar de la feria, de las peñas, de los pasacalles, de las bandas de música, de las vaquillas y de las mascletás.

Durante estos días podéis encontrar en Benidorm música y actividades festivas. El Viernes arrancan las Fiestas Patronales con la inauguración del alumbrado artístico y del recinto ferial. Un símbolo muy importante de las fiestas son Las Peñas, grupos de amigos que se aúnan en locales para celebrar la festividad patronal. Estas tienen su desfile de entrada el Viernes por la noche.

El Sábado se comienza con una misa en la Iglesia de San Jaime en honor a la Virgen del Sufragio, donde reside desde hace décadas. En el casco antiguo, en la Plaza Castelar, se da comienzo oficialmente a las Fiestas Mayores Patronales con un bombardeo aéreo. Uno de los eventos más importantes es la escenificación del hallazgo de La Virgen, que se celebrará el Sábado a las 17:00 en la Playa de Poniente. A continuación tendrá lugar la ofrenda de Flores, seguida del pregón de fiestas y del castillo de fuegos artificiales.

Para cerrar el fin de semana, el Domingo a las 8:00 se ofrecerá una gran chocolatada para comenzar la jornada con energía. Otro de los actos favoritos de los festers de Benidorm es el suelte de vaquillas, en la Plaza de Toros. La jornada del día va cargada de mascletás, conciertos y procesiones. Para acabar, espectacular Correfoc desde la Plaza de SSMM hasta el Parque de Elche.

El Lunes 13 es el día dedicado a Sant Jaume Apóstol y arranca el día con otra chocolatada. La jornada va prevista de misas y procesiones en su honor, pasacalles, mascletás y la fiesta musical de los 40 principales por la noche en la Calle Gambo.

El penúltimo día de las Fiestas Patronales de Benidorm, el Martes, volvemos a tener chocolatada por cortesía de Chocolates Marcos Tonda. El acto más importante de este día es el Desfile del Humor, a las 19:00, donde los miembros de las Peñas se disfrazan y pasean por las calles para hacer pasar a mayores y a niños un rato inolvidable. A las 12 de la noche no os perdáis la gran mascletá nocturna en la plaza de la Hispanidad.

Terminamos con el último día festivo, el Miércoles se celebra la ‘festa de las festes’, con pasacalles de diferentes entidades festeras de Benidorm.  Para los más pequeños habrá una mascletá infantil  y traca de caramelos. Por último, el desfile de carrozas que tendrá lugar a las 18:00 desde el Parque de Elche. Al finalizar el desfile, el castillo de fuegos artificiales en la Playa de Poniente nos dejará boquiabiertos con un espectáculo de luces y colores en el cielo. Este es el punto de despedida de las Fiestas Patronales de Benidorm, hasta el próximo año.

Cada vez Benidorm recibe más visitantes extranjeros para vivir y sentir las fiestas memorativas a la Virgen del Sufragio. Son 5 días llenos de programación y actos, concretamente en el centro de la ciudad, en los que el turismo también se hace participante de los pasacalles, las misas, las mascletás, y todos los actos que se celebran.

BENIDORM CELEBRATES THE FEAST OF THE CITY

As every November of each year, Benidorm dresses up as a party, as the most anticipated time of year for the festers arrives: The Patron Saint Festivity.
These have their origin since 1740, when the residents of Benidorm saw an unmanned ship approaching the coast. The arrival of this boat caused as much expectation as fear, because it infused fear to think that the cause of the disappearance of its crew was by the plague. The authorities decided to burn the boat to prevent epidemics. Once the flames had been extinguished, the children of the town began to search for nails, irons and other remains, with the surprise that they found the image of a Virgin with the Infant Jesus in her arms who had arrived at the stern of the ship. The Virgin was intact, and the flames had not touched her, a fact that seems a miracle, since the rest of the ship had been completely burned. Since then, every second weekend of November is celebrated the finding of the Virgin of the Suffrage.
This Friday, the 10th, begins 5 days of intense festive activity, where we can enjoy the fair, the peñas, the parades, the music bands, the heifers and the mascletás.

During these days you can find music and festive activities in Benidorm. On Friday, the Patron Saint celebrations begin with the inauguration of the artistic lighting and the fairgrounds. A very important symbol of the festivities are Las Peñas, groups of friends that come together in venues to celebrate the patronal festivity. They have their entrance parade on Friday night.

The Saturday begins with a Mass in the Church of San Jaime in honor of the Virgin of Suffrage, where she has lived for decades. In the old town, in the Plaza Castelar, the official Patron Saint Festival is officially started with an aerial bombardment. One of the most important events is the staging of the find of the Virgin, which will be held on Saturday at 5:00 pm at Poniente Beach. Then the flower offering will take place, followed by the proclamation of parties and the fireworks display.

To close the weekend, on Sunday at 8:00 a big chocolate will be offered to start the day with energy. Another of the favorite acts of the festers of Benidorm is the release of heifers, in the Plaza de Toros. The day of the day is full of mascletás, concerts and processions. We finish with the last holiday, on Wednesday the ‘festa de las festes’ is celebrated, with parades of different festive organizations from Benidorm. For the little ones there will be a mascletá infantile and traca de caramelos. Finally, the parade of floats that will take place at 18:00 from Elche Park. At the end of the parade, the castle of fireworks on Poniente Beach will leave us speechless with a show of lights and colors in the sky.
